History of the Institute:

The Ace Institute of Health Sciences started in 1999 as a small institution offering general education classes for small children, aged 5 to 15. Even at that time, computer and general sciences education were specially emphasized upon.

Originally, the Institute was simple known as the ‘Academic Center for Excellence’, hence the acronym, ‘Ace’. Over time, it was felt that this name did not represent the true identity or the mission of the Institute, hence only the acronym ‘Ace’ was kept, and thus the Institute came to be known as the ‘Ace Institute of Health Sciences’. Initially, the name of the Institute was ‘Ace Institute of Computer Sciences’ (AICS) as only short courses in IT were offered.

Dr. Naveed A. Khan returned from USA after completing his Masters degree and a Post-Doctoral Fellowship in 2000, and initiated the first health related program at the Institute - a short course in Medical Transcription. Same year (in 2001), the Institute’s name was changed to ‘Ace Institute of Computer & Medical Sciences’ (AICMS).   However by the end of 2001, the name was finally changed to Ace Institute of Health Sciences (AIHS) to reflect the true scope of its mission.   The official logo of the Institute is a map of the world enclosed in twin oval outlines with AIHS written boldly in the center. The logo was finally adopted in 2000 for official use.  It is now a registered trade mark of the Institute. In 2001, the Institute initiated paramedical courses for the first time in allied health sciences, and moved to acquire formal affiliation with the Health Department, Government of the Punjab.  The first batch of 76 Paramedics (for 1 year Dispenser Diploma) started training in October 2001.

In 2002, AIHS became the first private allied health sciences Institute in Pakistan to be affiliated with the Health Department, Government of the Punjab.  Till December 2006, 16 batches of over 2,500 paramedics have graduated from AIHS. Students from all 34 districts of province of Punjab and all over Pakistan have received training AIHS.

AIHS has the distinction of being the largest Allied Health Sciences Institutes in Pakistan, a distinction it continues to enjoy. In 2003, with the establishment of the University of Health Sciences (UHS), Lahore, AIHS applied for affiliation to the University to offer Bachelors Program in Medical Laboratory Sciences. In 2004, AIHS became the first private Institute to be affiliated with the UHS.In 2007, AIHS again became the first Institution in Pakistan to offer 2-year Category ‘B’ Pharmacist Diploma Program.
